Frank,
Have you ever visited the south shore of Long Island in Nassau County or, for
that matter, towns in the middle of Nassau like Mineola , Westbury, and
Hicksville? People living in very nice houses on 100 ft. by 80 ft. properties,
owning two or three cars, sending their children to good public schools, taking
yearly vacations, many of them on cruises or tours in the US or Europe. As I
said, things are changing for them. It began changing at the end of Bill
Clinton's second term of office. Your life experience is different, as is
Roger's. That's my point. There were people living in suburban communities who
were nowhere near the ultra wealthy, but who were living comfortable lives and
whose working conditions were very acceptable. Many of them didn't realize that
they owed their comfort to FDR's social welfare state and they voted for Ronald
Reagan.

I think Miriam's "middle class" is just a 1950s illusion. Case in point, in FY
2018 I spent more money for uncompensated work expenses than I took home. How
does that figure into the "middle class". I don't feel that I am directly in
between the welfare class and the ruling class as the term would suggest.

As Karl Marx said, the revolutionary potential of the petty bourgeoisie lies in
the fact that they are always on the verge of being thrown into the
proletariat. Before you declare what some group's talking points are you should
check to see what those talking points really are.

Carl,
Basically, I agree. But I think that you are repeating some overstated
distorted information. There has been an upper middle class who are not the
ruling oligarchy, but who are certainly not the over worked, under paid
working class. They live in the suburbs and until very recently, they worked
reasonable hours, had secure incomes, and lived comfortable lives with a few
luxuries thrown in. Things are changing and I don't know that their lives
will continue. But they are the people who believed in the American Dream
because it worked for them. I've known a lot of these folks because they
live on Long Island. They or their parents, moved here from New York City.
They switched party affiliations from Democratic to Republican after they got
here. They watch a lot of TV and they voted for Trump. But they also tend to
vote Republican in other presidential elections. I'm not talking about the
ultra wealthy. It's a mistake to make these sweeping generalizations because
they're not accurate representations of the truth. They are the talking
points of the socialist parties which are as inaccurate as the talking points
of the other political parties. It's all advertising.

Just to put a fine point on it, we talk alot about our democracy, when we are
actually neither a democracy nor a Republic. The United States of America is
run by a Corporate Capitalistic Oligarch.
It is a nation of, by and for the Privileged few. Those few who do benefit,
do so through the labor of an underpaid Working Class.
Control over this vast number of underpaid, overworked people is done with a
mixture of misleading promises, confusion and bold lies.

On radio, the only place for dissent is Pacifica radio and perhaps,
some individual public radio stations like the one where Robert

to Sputnik or Rt to here dissenting Americans. Lee Camp and Chris
Hedges have programs on RT, a Russian TV network. They had to
register as a foreign agent in order to continue broadcasting. The
internet is censored by the private big tech companies which are all allied
with the Military from which they sprang.
Facebook allows the Atlanta Council to censor its content. The
Atlanta council is funded by NATO and if I remember correctly, Saudi
Arabia or some other such far eastern dictatorship.

Of course the American Corporate Empire(ACE)presents its media as
"The Free Press"even as it goes about silencing the slightest opposition.
Over the years I have followed the "Left of Center" programs from
pillar to post, with the few that are left being confined to the Public
Channels.
Commercial radio is reserved for product peddlers and music...and
Rush Limbaugh.
Our "Last Frontier" for personal opinions is the internet. And ACE
is nibbling away at that, too.

Loud and Clear is a news and information radio program and a podcast

Clear are Brian Becker and John Kariakou. Brian Becker is a member
of The Answer Coalition, a left leaning organization. John Kariakou
is a former CIA agent who blew the whistle on CIA torture and, for
that reason, was prosecuted and jailed. The people who appear on the
program are many of the same people whose articles I post like Max
Blumenthal and Aaron Mate. Richard Wolff, people from Code Pink,
other economists, an expert on nuclear energy, Kevin Gestola, and
many more whom I can't think of. There are also some people whom I
don't know, some who are rather right wing in outlook, and some from
other countries like Great Britain and China. The podcast suddenly
began becoming unavailable, not downloading, about 6 weeks ago. When
I finally discovered that the only people with whom to check were
Humanware, they checked and said that there was nothing that could
be done about it. It just isn't available. I'm not even bothering to
post this to the Victor Stream list because the last time Sputnik
was mentioned, there were a whole lot of responses about how
everything on it is Russian propaganda. So I'm just venting my
frustration here. I didn't listen every day, and I only listened to
the segments in which I was interested. But I resent that some
entity somewhere is making decisions about what I may hear.
