Guns may not be the cause of violence, but we can certainly remove them from
the public sphere so that people's violent impulses won't result in so much
killing. As for permissive parenting, I don't think that's the explanation. I
do think that how we raise our children is related to what kind of adults they
become. But our children are very strongly influenced by what they learn on TV
and from the electronic games they play and what they learn and don't learn
about human relationships as electronic devices take over their lives. They are
influenced by the religious institutions they attend and by examples set by
celebrities whom they admire. They are influenced by the kind of schools the
attend and what sorts of things are and are not taught there, and they are
influenced by the nature of the communities where they live.

America continues to be what it is, an expansionist Empire. The Empire is
ruthless and continues to become even more violent.
Actually, guns are no more the cause of violence than gold is the cause of
greed. We have traveled a long way down the slippery slope of hatred and
vengeance.
Our little innocent children stare at little flat screens filled with "games"
that would have had us dragged by the ear to the school counselor, or the
Pastor's office.
One real serious problem, caused by the neglect of our Violent Society, is the
lack of parenting skills. We are, for the most part, permissive parents. Even
among the many families that fill their children's spare time with organized
sports, have no limits set on their children's use of the internet, or the
strange video games they play.
Before our world was flooded with electronic gadgets, we children used to hop
on our bikes and just go riding. Around and around the city.
Or we gathered at the school yard or the vacant lot and played "work up" or
flag football. We certainly did not lack the desire for competition, but it
had not been turned into violent confrontation.
If Donald Trump really believes that he is "Making America Great Again", he is
probably right. But it will not be a case of returning to our greatness, it
will be a matter of continuing on into our ever increasing violent world.

keep us from doing so. This headline is taking shape. If we add his
Mother's maiden name, a comment from his Sunday School Teacher, and

Yeah, I guess I did.
If we ever needed proof that we are manipulated by the Empire's Media,
this is a fine example. Had the murderer been Black or Muslim, that
identifier would have appeared in the headline. We are kept ignorant
of the fact that the most violent mass murders are committed by White
Men. This may be the first Senior White Citizen mass murder, and if
so, it should have been identified so Seniors can claim credit.

I observed that the first reports did not identify Stephen Paddock
as a Black man, or as a Man of Color. From this I draw the
conclusion that he was White. But that was not addressed.
I wonder just how many Stephen Paddocks are wandering about the
Land, armed to the teeth and living in their own little paranoia.
I think of this almost every day, here in my safe, White Corner of
the Nation. Out somewhere in our quiet Olympic Forest, a practice
target range has been set up. Thousands of rounds of ammunition are
fired nearly every day. I wonder just what they are preparing for.
Or are they just "playing cowboys and Indians". Too bad we can't
all spend as much of our spare time promoting Respect for one another.
It will be interesting to see what Donald Trump tweets. After
blaming the victims of the devastation in Puerto Rico for not doing
enough for themselves, and trashing the reputation of San Juan's
mayor(could it be because she is a Woman, and should not be speaking
out?), he may tweet that the responsibility of this tragic mass
murder belongs to the victims because they could not run fast enough.
