Bonnie, the fight to keep the minimum wage was lost back this past November.
There are many employers that since November have started openly paying well
below the minimum wage. They are hoping for a legal challenge from workers so
that they can get it to the Supreme Court where they believe the FLSA in its
entireity will be ruled unconstitutional.

There is one thing to remember--at least the Democrats are admitting people
need raises in their wages to rise above poverty, while most Republicans see
the idea of union organization and fights to get a living wage as attacks on
the American Way, which seems to translate as, "We want for the rich to get
richer, and people who aren't rich don't count worth a damn."
