Yes, Bob, to a certain point I agree with you. But I can't place the
fault at the feet of a People who have been so misled and lied to by
the very people who have been charged with building a secure,
prosperous nation. Even as a boy, I remember hearing how this Land of
ours was Free because we did not do like those Communists in the
Soviet Union(Russia). Those people were conditioned by State
Propaganda. But we had a "Free Press". Interesting how a Press can
be owned by corporations, and depend upon advertising to pay their
costs, and still be "Free". But when the propaganda machine is
working properly, we never ask. And today there are very few who are
asking...questioning the day's events. The Machine is up and Purring.

IMHO, that spirit was in deep hibernation from 1980 until November 8, 2017.
IT is trying to make a comeback now, but who knows if it will last any

Americans care more about their own material gain than they do about the
common good. So long as that continues to hold, the ruling class will keep

"Skilled politician", as I'm sure you know, was said tongue in cheek.
Like you, I am speechless(not really to the point of silence) over how
American voters joyfully elect one Fox after another. It's gotten so
there's more Foxes in the Hen House than chickens. But we've allowed this
to happen. While we, the Working Class, trudged off day after day, doing
the work that keeps our economy going, and our money flowing always upward
into the coffers of the Ruling Class, those same Rulers of the American
Corporate Empire(ACE)have not been idle. The reclaiming of this nation back
under the absolute control of White European/American Supremacists has been
underway for decades. The Great Society of LBJ scared the socks off True
White Patriots. From time to time I refer to the Empire's Pied Pipers.
That's no joke.
We, the Working Class, have been duped by the sweet sounds of these Empire
Pipers. We've danced and played away our leisure time, while the Rulers
have spent their off-hours in planning sessions at posh resorts...which they
own. While Working Class America lines up at McDonald's and heads for the
ball park or the beaches, Corporate Heads are developing ways of eliminating
Media competition, removing names from voters registers, ridiculing
Progressive politicians, removing Labor Unions, and on and on and on.
And now we have a Loose Cannon holding us prisoner, waving the threat of
nuclear destruction at North Korea, daring them to take the next step. And
we watch as if it were all one big Reality Show, not seemingly able to lift
a finger or utter a whisper of protest. Have we lost our Independent
American Spirit? Or perhaps the question should be, did we ever have an
Independent American Spirit? Was it always the Spirit of the White
Oligarchy, passed off as if it applied to all of us?

of West Virginia is the first political office he ever ran for. In
that way he is another Donald Trump. James Justice is best known in
West Virginia as the owner of a lot of coal mines and the owner of the
Greenbriar hotel. The Greenbriar hotel is the one that is known as the
poshest hotel in West Virginia, the hotel where the West Virginia
Classic golf tournament is held and where the congressional fallout
shelter existed for so many years. That fallout shelter is now the

Jim Justice decided to dabble in politics and switched from Republican
to Democrat to run for governor. He won the governorship and then
switched back to Republican to cater to Donald Trump. What I can't

Democrat.
His switch back now comes less than two years after registering as a
Democrat. Obviously he switches whenever it is opportune for him.
Not only does it confirm to me that the difference between the two
is pretty much nonexistent, but it confirms to me that these
politicians don't see a difference either. I don't expect that this
will mean any changes in his positions on any issues. If there are
any I expect that will only reflect his opportunism too.

By the way, I've seen nothing on this list about the slimy governor
of West Virginia. I'm sure he was a lover of Big Money, long
before he was wooed into the Republican den, but as a regular run
of the mill voter, I would be spitting fire and blowing steam from
my ears if I had believed any of his democratic platitudes, and
then had him turn on me. But forget trying to recall him. Voters
who were taken in by his babbling don't really care what party he
hangs his hat on. I keep reminding myself that my own
mother-in-law voted for John McCain because she liked the way he
looked.
For me, this is as close to concrete proof that there is no Great
Wise Father Figure leading us.

Texas lawmakers have launched a new round of attacks on women’s
rights, passing a number of anti-abortion bills to deny women the
right to choose or have access to abortion.
On June 6 Texas Gov. Greg Abbott enthusiastically signed a law
banning all abortions performed by dilation and evacuation, the
safest and most common method of second trimester abortion. The
law, which goes into effect Sept. 1, also prevents women from
donating fetal remains for scientific research and requires all
abortion clinics to dispose of any fetal remains by paying for a
burial or cremation.
Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights filed a
lawsuit July 20 seeking to block provisions of the law. Seven
other state legislatures have passed similar restrictions.
“The law we challenged today in Texas is part of a nationwide
scheme to undermine these constitutional rights and ban abortion
one restriction at a time,” Nancy Northrup, president of the
Center for Reproductive Rights, told the press.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, legislators in six states
this year introduced “measures to ban all abortions, and in 28
states to ban abortions under some circumstances.” Major
restrictions have been adopted in 11 states.
Abbott called a special session of the legislature that began July
18 to adopt more laws to prevent women from ending an unwanted
pregnancy.
The
Senate has approved two bills now heading to the House. One bans
insurance plans from covering abortions and the other prevents any
government funds from going to affiliates of abortion providers
that do not offer the procedure.
“They want to close down the Planned Parenthood in Austin that
does not perform abortions,” Lexie Cooper, president of the Austin
chapter of the National Organization for Women, told the Militant
Aug. 1.
This facility provides other services, including birth control as
well as cancer and HIV screening. Shutting down Planned Parenthood
“hurts the most vulnerable, low-income women,” Cooper said. At the
same time, “there’s been an explosion of so-called crisis
pregnancy centers. They get government funds, tax dollars, but
their aim is to prevent women from getting an abortion. They give
false information like abortions cause cancer.”
A number of previous Texas government attacks on women’s access to
abortion have been reversed. In June 2016, after a three-year
legal battle, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a Texas law
requiring any doctor who performs abortions to have admitting
privileges at a local hospital and demanding abortion clinics meet
hospital-like standards.
This was a victory, but over half the 40 clinics in Texas closed
in the meantime. Only four have reopened.
By 2014 no clinics provided abortions in 96 percent of Texas
counties.
This situation falls particularly hard on women from the working
class and from families on farms and in rural towns.
A new 2017 Pew Research poll found that 57 percent of all adults,
as high as it has been in two decades, support legal abortion in
all or most cases.
