I've read at least 3 articles today, bemoaning the plight of the
Palestinians and berating the Israelis for shooting peacefully demonstrating
Gazans. Interesting. I think the total of Gazans killed in the past several
weeks is approximately 100, 61 of them in just one day and 2,500 injured.
Many American Jews are upset now, but they weren't upset when over 2,000
were killed and something like 20,000 were injured in Gaza in 2014. I've
been wondering why and I think I know. Obama was President in 2014 and he
not only made no objection to what Israel was doing, he sent more armaments
and approved 4 billion dollars a year in military aid to Israel for the next
10 years. Only when Israel repeatedly bombed UN shelters did he voice a bit
of disapproval and the next day, the war was over. But now Trump is
President so what was much more extreme under Obama was OK with liberals,
including Bernie Sanders. Well, better late than never. I guess I shouldn't
look a gift horse in the mouth.
