Good post here.
Here's my take on it.
I will never forget the terrible tragedy that took place on September 11,
2001. It was a day of horrible los and destruction and I truly feel for
those who lost friends and loved ones that day. .
But I'll also never forget the following:
1. The incompetence of a government which had clear evidence that something
was about to happen and failed to act.
2. The horrible things we did to motivate and aid the attackers such as
blind love and support of Israeli policies and support for the government of
Saudi Arabia which has funded groups like Al-Qaeda for far too long and our
stupid support for the Mujahideen in Afghanistan.and most of all,
3. the terrible things we did after the attack such as the invasion of Iraq,
passage of the Patriot Act, the opening of Guantanamo Bay Prison, Rendition
and more.
The lesson of 911 should be that good things rarely come from military
adventures and jingoism.
Unfortunately, I feel I'm in a very small minority of Americans in my views
here.
