Yes, SeaTac is really the name of a town in Washington State.
Cathy and I will visit a couple of clients in the Bremerton area and
then work our way across the Tacoma Narrows bridge and into the
bustling SeaTac area. The WCB was organized in 1935 under the name of
the Washington State Association of the Blind. That's the same year I
was "organized"(born).
When I was a boy, SeaTac did not exist. The major airport was Boeing
Field. Bow Lake lay where today's SeaTac airport sits. My dad
designed the windows in the original main terminal, but I think they
have been "remodeled" out of existence.
My cousin, a retired airline pilot, Frank Hansen was the first mayor
of SeaTac. With that connection and $2.50, I can buy a good cup of
coffee most anywhere in the airport.
About 200 folks will crowd into the Marriott hotel for the two plus
day conference. I'm pretty sure it will be streamed over ACB radio.
Anyway, you can relax for the next 4 days. I'll not be posting...no
applause, please.
