If I think about what motivates my support for Sanders or for a third party
candidate, it isn't that I'm feeling personally angry either or that my
needs aren't met. I'm not as financially secure as I'd like to be, but that
isn't the problem. It's more that I'm so really very concerned about how
badly the poor are treated in our society, about how people who had
comfortable lives, have lost their financial security, about the terrible
eerosion of civil liberties, about the deterioration of our environment and
the quality of life, and about our government's domination of the world
which means havoc and death to so many people. I've paid taxes to this
country. I've identified with it, and I've taken its values at face value.
The more I read and hear, the more I'm horrified by the society in which I
live and I feel like ethically, I shouldn't be complicit. Hillary is, to me,
the epitome of what the liberal establishment has become. She's spending
lots of time at elite fund raising events. On the campaign trail, when sshe
addresses public audiences, she says whatever she believes they wish to
hear, but her heart and loyalty is with the billionaire class which she
serves and of whom she is a part. And her foreign policy is destructive to
everyone, including the US. I remember when her stand on abortion changed
and she thought it should be limited to a certain time period. That was when
the Democratic Party decided that it had to bow to the wishes of the
religious right after Bush won the Presidency. She was supporting laws to
limit abortion, but no one seems to remember that. Well, it's just one
point, but it invalidates the claim that she firmly stands for a woman's
right to choose. The fact is that most people vote for what they believe is
in their best interests and not because of some broader ethical issue like
the welfare of everyone and less war.

well, I guess the bottom line here is that I'm just not feeling that angry
disenfranchised or disheartened that I feel the system is that bad. I read
and listen and just can't buy in to all of the angry rhetoric. Perhaps I'm
more tied in to the political establishment and feel more comfortable with
it. I don't expect to change minds and I realize that there ismuch passion
for the Sanders campaign but I just don't feel it. sometimes our principles
have to be compromised to protect what we have and this electgion is one of
those times. I have never and will never vote for a Republican so that's not
an option. For me judicial appointments are probably one of the most
important issues thatthat I use when voting. Its probably right up there
with not supporting a candidate that wants to further any kind of religious
agenda.

None of us are forgetting the Judiciary. It's a sad day when we're told that
we have to vote for a candidate whom we find to be repugnant, because she
may appoint better judges to our courts. I mean, that should be just one of
several reasons to vote for someone, but in the end, given Hillary's track
record, we're voting for her because she isn't Trump and she'll appoint
better judges.

the key issue that is being overlooked in this election is the damage that
Trump or any republican dandidate would do to the court system with the

I agree completely with you here regardign the sad state in which we find
ourselves.
But, as bad as that is, I'm afraid that I believe that things could get far
worse under a president Trump. I foresee increasingly violent repression of
the poor and minorities, more military adventures abroad, more terrorist
attacks throughout the Globe, continued deterioration of our infrastructure,
an end to Obama Care and more.
Our bill of Rights which has been torn to pieces in the last 20 years will
be nothing more than a cloud of dust under Trump.
I'm afraid that I'm whimping out here and that I, like Carl, will be very
likely to pull the lever for Clinton, probably with a gas mask tightly
affixed.
