All I can say is I wish I'd been there. You have some grand memories.
I learned a great deal from today's program.
And now, time to eat a late dinner. We were all over the countryside
today and just got home a couple of hours back.

Carl,

I lisstened to Democracy Now tonight and I have to say that, that interview
with Theodore Bikel just about did me in. It brought back so many memories.
For one thing, I saw that first Broadway production of Sound of Music. That
was so long ago and I was so young. And I remember him as a folk singer. I
remember the Hebrew song that he, Pete Seeger, and the guy with the Arabic
name sang. And I remember when we all felt like he does about Israel, when
his story was one to which all of us, liberal Jews, so strongly identified
with. The whole thing just tore me to pieces. And his song at the end
about
being old and looking back at childhood, could I ever relate to that! One
thing that I found so interesting is that of all of the bad stuff that
Israel has done over the years, the one thing that he objects to is what
Israel is doing to the Bedouins. And it is certainly true that what has
been
done to them is horrible, but that seems to be the only thing of which
Bikel
is aware. Anyway, listening to that hour with hims was truly amazing.
