Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson. (Balanced Rebellion)

A super PAC supporting Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson
promises liberals and conservatives disturbed by Hillary Clinton and Donald
Trump an opportunity to vote for a third party with confidence that they are
not "throwing away their vote."

Reason.com
reports(http://reason.com/blog/2016/08/26/dead-abe-lincoln-says-vote-gary-jo
hnson/print) on Balanced Rebellion(http://balancedrebellion.com) :

Via their site and using Facebook, they link a voter who would like to vote
Libertarian from a specific state who says they would feel obligated to vote
Hillary Clinton if they had no other choice to another voter who says they'd
feel obligated to vote Trump in that situation.

This is intended to solve the problem of the would-be third party voter who
fears their vote would enable the candidate they most hate to win. You know,
the old "A vote for a third party is a vote for whatever candidate you most
hate."

As Matt Kibbe, who runs the PAC, explained in a phone interview this
morning, you will actually be informed of the existence of this specific
other voter, but just a first name to protect the other users' privacy.

The effort is explained in a humorous video by "Dead Abe Lincoln":

Balanced Rebellion isn't the only project offering voters an alternative to
the two major-party choices. Writer and activist Sam Husseini started Vote
Pact to give "principled progressives" and "conscientious conservatives" a
way to support third-party presidential options "without being weakened by a
'spoiler' attack-it is small-d democracy." Unlike Balanced Rebellion, which
only supports Johnson, Vote Pact also benefits Jill Stein or any other
independent candidate.

"The idea is to use this as a way of people overcoming fear and help them
find a way to stop supporting Clinton if they claim they don't actually
agree with her," explains Husseini.
