My thoughts about what you've written are that yes this is Trump's
re-election strategy. And yes, there are a lot of people from both parties,
who resent young women of color who assertively challenge the status quo.
This country has a tradition of anti immigrant sentiment and welcomed
immigrants only when inexpensive labor was needed. It's a settler colonial
culture which means that the only valuable citizens are the white male land
owners' descendants. And yes, Lincoln wanted the freed slaves to leave the
country. He wanted to rid the country of Africans. What you love is not this
country, but the propaganda about a country that never actually existed. But
you're a member of the last generation that truly benefited from FDR's new
deal legislation. Your parents and you were the beneficiaries of a social
welfare state. You benefited from this country's domination over the world
which began after the second world war. So there were things to love, the
dream you were sold, the benefits of a social welfare state to working white
people, and a limited democracy. But an empire based on inequity and a free
market economy and a tribal mentality, brings us to where we are now.

Hi all,
My first reaction after anger to Trump's recent tweet demanding that four
progressive members of the House, 'go back to their own countries" was
something like: "boy, he really stepped in it this time." After all, that
kind of hateful speech has not been uttered by party leaders in quite some
time now. Also, that tweet appears to have unified the democrats.
But then I read a few articles suggesting that this was going to be at the
center of Trump's re-election strategy. They argued that Republican leaders
hope to revv up the base with this kind of bigoted crap. The articles
reminded us of all the times in the past this was done. I'm sure many of you
remember the "love it or leave it" rants that were aimed at Vietnam war
protesters. One of the articles even chided Abraham Lincoln for recommending
that slaves be freed and sent off to Liberia.
If this strategy is real and if it helps keep Trump in the White House, that
tells me that America is an evil nation. I am concerned that if this occurs
I will begin to feel a strong hatred for a nation I once loved. Could it be
that Hilary Clinton was right to call 50 percent of Trump's supporters
deplorables? Obviously, that was very poor strategy on her part.
Here's another point. Since that nasty tweet, the news media has been
blathering on and on about that and there has been much less coverage of the
Democrats who hope to replace him. Trump is a master at manipulating the
nedia and promoting chaos. IMHO, if trump continues on this course and wins
re-election, that will erase much of the good that America has done
throughout its history.
