Hi all,
I am extremely fortunate when it comes to fresh, local produce. Firstly, Donna
grows wonderful tomatoes. They make awesome salads and really jazzed up some
tacos we had last night. She also grows a few cucumbers and lettuce. The cukes
and lettuce didn't do well in our drought conditions.
Every Saturday from mid-June through October, we have a local farmer's market
very close by. Yes, it's expensive, but you can get the best of tomatoes,
lettuce, cukes, corn, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, apples and more. No
peaches this year due to the drought.
In mid- to late September, we'll take a 30 mile trip west to pick apples.
