You can't believe in what you don't believe in. To some folks I could never
convince them that the very boxer shorts I am wearing are real. To me they are
real and that is far as my sphere of influence will ever go.

Roger, as has been said for centuries, for non-believers nothing is evidence
for the validity of faith, while for the believer EVERYTHING is evidence for
the validity of faith.
There is nothing anyone who is religious can say that will convince you, so
trying to explain why I believe as I do would be an exercise in futility. But
you can think on this--your brain has a specific section in the left temporal
lode that is specifically designed to process information that has to do with
spiritual phenomena. Now, this section of the brain is capable of malfunction,
and people with seizure disorders in this area have been known to have the
damnedest impulses and thoughts appear to be divinely inspired. But that does
not invalidate the fact that people who are highly spiritual do have regular
activity within this area that helps them behave in a higher moral and
spiritual fashion, and they regularly feel more connected to other people as
well as energies that most people ignore than those who do not exercise this
portion of the brain. And although not everyone who has been through a
near-death experience has experienced the same thing in the same way, still
enough individuals who were either resuscitated or who spontaneously
resuscitated have reported significantly similar experiences even when brain
function appeared to have been zero that it reinforces that there is more to
individual identity than simply life in whatever body we inhabit.
As I said, there is no proof--or everything is proof. I have found everything
is proof.
