This book was written in 1996 and I learned about it only recently while
reading an article on the internet. Although the book provides a lot of
detailed information about the careers of the Clintons in Arkansas and
about Bill Clinton's run for the Presidency, its subject is actually modern
politics and a good deal of what the author writes, is very relevant today.
This is not a partisan book. The author worked in the administrations of
presidents of both the Democratic and Republican parties before becoming an
investigative journalist. Back in the 90's, when I believed that every
unpleasant fact that appeared in the news about Democrats was Republican
propaganda, I'm not sure that I would have paid attention to the book if I'd
known of its existence. Now, in 2021, after having access to reams of
information via the internet and Bookshare that wasn't available to me back
then, with plenty of time to read and absorb it, and after having watched
the Democratic Party avoid all opportunities to make the changes that would
make life better for a majority of Americans as it keeps promising to do,
I'm willing to believe some of the shocking facts that I read in this book.
