Certainly we have allowed ourselves to get in a political pickle,
Bonnie. But I see it as a symptom of a System in Failure. Capitalism
has outlived any usefulness it may have had, including that of the
Wealthy Ruling Class. While those in the control of this American
Empire are still raking in the big bucks, they are running out of
leaves and clippings. The working class is standing on the edge of
poverty. When our credit is maxed and we can no longer pay our
bills, our mortgages or rent, and our health care, it won't matter
who or what is in the High Offices of the Land. The walls will come
tumbling down.
I only hope that you and those others who provide personal care, will
still be funded. And the same with the program Cathy and I work in.
But when the Profiteers are scraping the sides of the barrel, we will
go long before the essentials of the Ruling Class. Their gardeners.
house servants and personal staff will still hold jobs while we look
on. And then the Ruling Class will realize, just as Louis the XVI
learned. And Czar Nicholas II, and so many others, that the Working
Class will only be pushed so far.
And yes, antiques, I guess I just liked the idea of you in a Baker's
Hat, popping out doughnuts.

was no bakery involved in our business, and we went from high-tech to
pre-tech
within a couple of years of moving to Port Townsend, finding that having a
reason to travel about the States, Canada, and England to purchase antiques

computer systems a year. We did have a guy in the shop for a time who sold
TV
satellite systems before Dish and DirecTV took over that kind of service,
and
later a locksmith after Dave's business went bust. But we stuck with
providing
UPS service for years.
Through it all I worked with the Sequim and Port Angeles school districts
until
George W, Bush's alleged educational reforms made teaching special ed so
onerous
I quit teaching and began doing caregiving full time. In time I shifted
from
working with people with mental deficits to people who have physical
deficits,
but I intend to keep going at least three more years, or at least until my
older
current client passes on. She is far more definite than I am about belief
in
intervention from other realms, and says that she has been told she will
not
leave this world before she's eighty-six. She'd really like to go sooner
than
that, but although she is mostly bedridden, still her condition is due to a
conglomeration of fairly minor problems that collectively have caused her
current inability to do much at a time. She turned 81 in May, and won't be

for another five years. Considering what I've seen of her attitudes and
stubborn nature, I suspect she'll be with us at least that long in spite of
her
willingness to let go now. She has this overwhelming curiosity to see what
will
happen next, you see.
Last night it hit her that I have had unusual encounters with the
unexplained
that parallel hers, and she demanded why I'd given her the impression that
I
don't believe her experiences were valid, and I had to explain that I don't
question her interpretation of what she has experienced, but that that
particular line of experience simply has little interest for me. For her,
her
belief in her own interpretation of what she's experienced has been so
overwhelming that she cannot understand why other people don't champion it
fully. But I cannot call her interpretation of what she's experienced
invalid.
I find it interesting, but not as interesting as my own historical interests
in
other subjects.
What unites us both the most at this time is our mutual disgust with Donald
J.
Trump. There she finds my tendency to loathe the man at times to be even
stronger than hers, and we laugh over that.
I've been stuck working ten hour shifts all through the weekend and with
five-hour shifts on Thursdays and Mondays for three years now, and by the
end of
it all I am too often absolutely exhausted. My writing has suffered, and
my
ability to tolerate intolerance from others is not as great as it once was.
I
simply cannot appear to overlook being told that I'm failing to show
objectivity
or that I'm lying or that I am incapable of making rational judgments
solely
because I have accepted a possible supernatural interpretation for some
extraordinary experiences I've had or that close friends have revealed to
me,
people whose veracity I have had good reason to respect. If I've
overreacted to
Roger's rhetoric I apologize. But I am myself a moderate who hates being
under
a regime that is anything but moderate in nature, and I find I resent being
told
I'm looney tunes because I won't embrace Roger's form of materialistic
atheism
when the real problem facing all of us is that we are endangered by this
administration's outrageous decisions and interpretations of current
events.
