I only listen to the first segment of Rush Limbaugh. First comes the last couple of minutes of the morning show which is a statewide talk show dealing with West Virginia issues. Then there is the noon news followed by local news and then Rush limbaugh. I often don't even get through the first segment. I know his perspective, so it isn't all that disturbing. Lately he has been raling on and on about how the mainstream news media is trying its best to frame up Donald Trump. I suppose I find it more amusing than disturbing, but I don't waste a lot of time with him.

That's interesting, especially because I never knew what a hashtag is. But
isn't listening to Rush Limbagh disturbing?

Subject: [blind-democracy] Octothorp

I thought I would mention something that I learned yesterday. I mentioned
before that all of my life when I learn something new I get excited and can't
wait until I can pass it on to someone else. In this case I was frustrated
because I had no one to pass it on to until I thought of this list and it
struck me as the perfect place to pass it on. If any of you already knew this
let me know. At noon every day I flip on the radio and listen to it while I
prepare and have lunch. That usually means that I catch the first segment of
Rush Limbaugh most every day, but yesterday it was Saturday and so I found
myself listening to Kim Komando. She was doing a little quiz to test the
knowledge of her listeners. She mentioned that little symbol that is variously
called a pound sign, a hash tag or a few other names. She said that it had a
technical name that was not any of those names that people usually call it by
and she gave a multiple choice of several possible answers. It turned out that
its technical name is the octothorp. This list started out on the Octothorp web
site and I had no idea what it meant. I kind of thought that it might be just
some made up nonsense syllables that was applied to the web site. Now I found
out that it is the number sign, the pound sign, the hash tag.
