He was also a fine art painter, humanitarian, champion of children's rights 
(with his wife) and did I mention he was also a pretty good boxer.

He sure was respected in the boxing world.  He also got some respect when
SCOTUS  reversed his conviction for refusing to fight in Vietnam.  I 
watched
the Olympics when he lit the caldron.  There was a tremendous outpouring 
of
love and admiration.

 When I went to my small Sunday meeting this morning, someone said
something very interesting.  They said no one respected him until he was 
no
longer able to speak.  Not sure that is totally true but there is some 
truth
to it.
