OK, Roger, we have an oath to pledge to be democrat and an oath to be
republican and must adhere to all tenets (boy, sounding a tad like a religion)
which leaves us with a whole lot of people not willing to do either. That
won't get us far. Currently, we have two political parties that are basically
holders of the corporate power. Are all activists spitting in the wind? How
do we change? Or do we accept we are on the road to our fall?

Why shouldn't those parties be in the business of excluding people for whatever
position they might have? As far as I'm concerned the Democrat and Republican
parties take only positions that one or another faction of the ruling class
holds anyway and all those people who think they are party members because they
have registered to vote in one or another branch of the Republicrat party have
been purposely deluded by that ruling class party, but what is a political
party anyway? It is an organization that has been formed to promote a certain
set of political positions. In that case, just why would you have it that a
political party should not be excluding people who disagree with its set of
political positions that it was organized to promote? Would you claim that the
Communist Party should not be in the business of excluding Ku Klux Klan members?

Hi Mary and all,
Interesting discussion here. I have two thoughts.
1. The Democratic Party should not be in the business of excluding those who
do not believe in the legal right to abortion. Similarly, the Republicans
should not be in the business of excluding pro-choice members.
2. Here is my question for the pro-life movement. WE know that you are
pro-life before that life has passed through the vaginal canal. But are you in
favor of programs to increase the healthiness of children and reduce child
poverty such as good-quality prenatal care for the pregnant mother and
nutrition programs for children such as WIC, (Women, infants and Children) and
free school lunch and breakfast for kids in school? I have found that many in
the pro-life movement favor things like tax cuts and much smaller government.
Also, they really do have it in for Planned Parenthood which is primarily an
organization that offers health screenings and prenatal care for poor women who
often have very few other alternatives. Abortion services make up about seven
percent of what Planned Parenthood does.
