The miracle is, that I received the confirmation message. Remember that the
first sign of trouble that I had was when suddenly, I stopped receiving
messages. When Joe was having difficulty subscribing, many months ago, I
did that for him. I went to the link and typed in his address and then he
received a confirmation notice. And during the past few weeks, I tried
resubscribing myself, but I wasn't receiving any messages from Freelists. I
only received messages if people sent me copies. So I'm grateful that you
did something and it's fortuitous that optimum allowed me to receive the
Freelists confirmation.

Democracy
I did do something. I was contemplating what you said about trying to
resubscribe, but not getting a confirmation email. If that happened to me I
would have tried again. An address could be typed slightly incorrectly or
something else. I find that depending on where the address comes from it may
or may not work. For example, I think I have figured out that if I send an
email directly from my address book it doesn't seem to get where I am trying
to send it, but when I type it in it works even though both appear to me to
be identical. A lot of other mysterious glitches might happen too. So I just
quietly went to the Freelists web site and typed in your address and clicked
subscribe. If it didn't work then you probably would still not know I did
it, but it did seem to work.

Now, I've just received my article and 2 other messages from the list.
I hope this continues. I haven't seen any direct messages for about 3
weeks. I did send a letter to the corporate office of CableVision
Optimum last week, explaining my sad situation. Could they have done
something? Did Roger do something? Or was it the gremlins?
