Israel wants to be the country which represents all Jews and it would like
as many Jews as possible, to live there. It would like to own and control
all of Palestine for this purpose. This has always been the Zionist dream.
It springs from the feeling of many european Jews starting back in the late
1800's, that Jews needed a land of their own where they could take refuge
from anti-semitism. In a way, it's akin to the back to Africa movement to
which many African Americans belonged because they felt that they could live
with pride and dignity only in Africa. As America has become more and more
powerful, Israel has needed its military aid more and more and also, its
protection from the disapproval of its actions by the majority of countries.
At the same time, American Jews, who feel safe here and most of whom tend
not to be very religious, have used a feeling of concern about Israel as a
way of feeling Jewish. None of this equates with Israel wanting to take over
the west. Israel wants to control what we do in the Mideast because they see
everything that we do as having a relationship to the welfare of Israel.

Miriam, certainly not equating Israel with all Jews, just the opposite. I
think Israel is trying to co-opt American Jews and organizations like the
ones you mentioned are seeing that for what it is. I think Israel is trying
to take over the west through control. Already US leaders dare not challenge
any of Israel's whims due to AIPAC. Come to think of it, maybe Israel has
already taken over.

Well, I'm reading books about this stuff all the time. I'm not sure what
you're talking about but it sounds as if you're implying that Israel wants
to take over the world and that you may be equating Israel with all Jewish
people. I hope that isn't what you mean to say. Israel wants all of
Palestine and would like all Palestinians to disappear, one way or the
other. That is true. However, it is the Israeli government that is trying to
equate Israel with all of the Jewish people in the world and there are huge
numbers of Jewish people who do not accept that definition. There are Jewish
anti-Zionists who have formed organizations to fight this idea and who write
books and make speeches explaining their point of view. Within America,
there is a 3 way split in the Jewish community regarding Israel. But there
are people who are not Jewish, who use anti-Zionism as a Trojan Horse for
anti-semitism. I find that totally unacceptable.

Palestine". It is akin to those that said the Nazi's "only want Poland".

We're giving them 3 billion dollars a year to support this regime and Obama
has promised between 1 and 2 billion in additional military funding each
year so that Israel will stop fighting the Iran deal. There has been no
rebuilding in Gaza. Many Gazans are so angry at Hamas for agreeing for
things to remain at the status quo by signing a cease fire with Israel that
they are turning to ISIS members who have infiltrated into Gaza. And to
complicate the situation even more, Israel has joined with Saudi Arabia to
support ISIS in Syria because Israel wants to eliminate the current Syrian
government.

The Israeli Parliament has approved a tough law that could send people
to prison for up to 20 years for throwing rocks at moving vehicles.
Palestinian
activists and officials have condemned the law as "repressive" and
"racist."
Al-Jazeera explains:
"This law is not about stone-throwing. It is about repressing any form
of Palestinian resistance or protest to Israeli colonization and
Ali Abunimah, co-founder of the Electronic Intifada website that runspunishment,"
articles and resources on [the] Palestinian struggle, said in an
interview on Tuesday.
He said that while Israel continues to target Palestinians, shooting
deaths of Palestinian protesters were committed "with absolutely no
consequences whatsever".
Late on Monday, Israeli lawmakers voted 69 to 17 to increase the
punishments, approving legislation proposed after a wave of
Palestinian protests last year in East Jerusalem.
Qadura Fares, head of the Palestinian Prisoner Club, an organization
that advocates on behalf of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails,
said the new law was "racist".
"This law is hateful and contradicts the most basic rule that the
punishment fit the offense," he said.
Arab lawmaker Jamal Zahalka accused the parliament of hypocrisy,
saying stone throwing is an answer to abuses by Israeli security forces.
He said: "You are picking on the person responding to major injustices."
Under the law, stone throwers could face 10 years in prison, and up to
20 years if it is determined that they intended to seriously harm the
occupants in a vehicle.
"Tolerance toward terrorists ends today. A stone-thrower is a
terrorist and only a fitting punishment can serve as a deterrent and
