Dear Friends,
As blind or low vision people, or friends and family members, we have
a vested interest in how we fit into the American Society. Exploring
differing views and opinions is critical if we are going to make
decisions in efforts to secure and improve our own futures. Leaving our fate to
chance is certainly one choice we can make. But that is a very risky
choice, and seldom has a positive outcome. Informing ourselves and
understanding the choices we make,
and how we become active in reaching our goals, will not guarantee
that we will reach them, but we can gain personally from our efforts,
through laying the groundwork for the future.
And that in itself has great value.
I plan to introduce an article in three parts. You'll notice that
there are names such as Karl Marx. Just a quick disclaimer: I
certainly respect the writings of Karl Marx, but I have never
considered myself to be a Marxist. To be entitled to such a handle
would call for serious study of the writings of Marx and Engels. I
merely present this article in the hope that it stirs some minds and
causes us to think about our
place in this nation, and how we can make a difference for ourselves.
