Yes.  I listened.  And I read, "On the Beach" back when it came out.
I'd read it again, but the grim truth is still the grim truth.  I sent
off a longer note, but I see it did not go anywhere.  Now we are
leaving shortly for our daughter's in Ellensburg, for a long weekend.

Did you listen to Jeffrey Sacks on Democracy Now this morning? He was
talking about Mr. Trump and the implications of his foreign policy, stated
in the speech he gave at the U N yesterday for international relations, for
North Korea and nearby countries, for Iran, for the rest of the world, and
for America. What he said was serious and honest, more honest than anything
else I've heard or read on the subject. If he is accurate, we won't need to
worry for long about these mundane problems of medical care or financing.
Recently, I read On The Beach, at the prompting of John Pilger who'd never
read the book when it was written in 1957 either. After a nuclear war begins
inadvertently including the whole world, the clouds of radio active death
engulf the world, ending all life. At the end, we're on a beach community in
Australia, as the remainder of humanity prepares for death.

Bob and All Lovers of Good Health...whether you can afford it or not!
The thing that is being muddied by our "Free Press", is that Block Grants
are a way the Federal Government can begin the process of shutting down a
program without having to face up to it.  In other words, Trump and Company
can set the wheels in motion and be long gone when the ax comes down.  A
block grant may look like a nice chunk of change...this year.  But two or
four or ten years down the road when it has been cut back to half of what it
originally was...and always with the sad reason that "we can't afford it",
it will finally be providing All American Working Class Folk the same level
of service that our Services to Older Blind and Low Vision People is
providing...which is next to nothing.
Remember, over half our tax dollars go into "defending the Free World
against Terror".  Excuse me, I have to pause a moment for a good belly
laugh.  Fighting Terror with Terror makes about as much sense as fighting
domestic violence by kicking the crap out of the offender.

Hi Bonnie,
What seems to be the worst thing about this bill after the horrible
cuts to Medicaid is that the states that will be punished most are
those that expanded Medicaid as suggested by the AHCA. Cassidy has
already bragged that parsimonious states like his Louisiana will
benefit from this nonsense.
IF this sorry excuse for legislation passes into law, then I recommend
that all states that have expanded Medicaid secede from this sorry
excuse for a union.
Is that extreme? Yes, but not much more than passing this mess into law.
Seems that for too damned many members of Congress, bringing home the
bacon to one's own state is more important than acting for the good of
all.
Hey wait a minute Bob! Get your fricking head out of the clouds! When
will you get it through your thick head that greed is good and anyone
who speaks of the common good is some kind of evil communist! Hail
America! Hail Trump!
Long live the United States of America!

I thought from reports last night that only fifteen million people
would lose health coverage under this new bill?  According to Daily
Kos it will be
32 million, which means that twelve million more people will be
without health care than before the ACA was enacted.

Way to go, Graham and Cassidy!
