I totally agree, Miriam.
Once I signed that first petition, I began to see my in box over filled with
news letters, requests, and more petitions.  And of course, once it began to
look as if I were Left Leaning, every politician left of center put me on
their, :Please send money" list.
I spend the first few minutes each day just deleting this junk mail.
And many of them make it difficult for me to cancel.  And, when I have been
successful, it's only a matter of time until they are back.
I agree that it would serve the Left, if all of these groups formed some
sort of an alliance, but I do not expect it to ever happen.

Professor Lester Thurow of MIT, one of EPI's founders and intellectual
inspirations, passed away this week. Thurow, a prominent, globally
respected economist, was part of a small group who established EPI 30
years ago. He enthusiastically supported the idea of a think tank that
would study and debate economic policy from the perspective of people
who work for a living.
Jeff Faux, EPI's founding president, praised Thurow as a brilliant and
intellectually courageous economist. "He understood that economics is
embedded in human institutions, whose impact was important, even
though at times it cannot be quantified.
History has proven him right," Faux said.
