Dear Sir,
I point your attention to the following from Kimble Gray’s job description:
“• Serves on State Teams to conduct on-site monitoring reviews
• Assures that assigned State VR agencies and other grantees operate in
conformity and compliance with applicable Federal laws, regulations and polices
Derived from the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended… and the Americans with
Disabilities Act.”
Now, sir I’ve sent you plenty of documentation of violations of the ADA and
Section 504 by the Michigan SILC, the Disability Network Michigan, and several
Michigan CILs including the Disability Network in Flint Capitol Area and the
Disability Network of West Michigan amongst others. In fact all are being sued
either directly or indirectly for systemic and discrete violations of our civil
rights which is in the public domain over violations of my and others civil
rights under the ADA/504 and, most egregiously the federally and publicly
funded ADA 25th Anniversary of this self-same fundamental civil rights law on
September 17, 2015 on the Michigan State Capitol Lawn in Lansing Michigan. Now
this month celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the takeover of the Federal
office building in San Francisco which fought to implement 504 by brave leaders
of our movement like Judith Heumann, Ed Roberts and others. In fact not only
did this action lead to “implement” Section 504 and also the eventual funding
of Independent Living programs under Title VII of the Rehab Act, but they also
led to expansion of our civil rights as people with disabilities under the ADA
to other venues years later.
Yet, you at ILA now have not even investigated the scofflaws and renegades who
decades later denied our own right to even enter our own civil rights
celebration by federally funded bigots, again in documented fashion in a civil
rights atrocity on September 17, 2015 because we people with disabilities
opposed the violatations of the ADA and 504 by our own CILS, state government
and all with voices and leaflets.
Gray knows of this. You, Mr. Williams knows of these atrocity. They are haighly
documented.
How, can anyone, let alone an advocate for people with disabilities paid for to
protect our rights by taxpayer funds allow this to occur without a peep let
alone investigation, and let alone without punitive actions such as de-funding
of such scofflaws as these in Michigan?
I’ve held my powder for some time in these regards to no avail. I now ask you
to respond and to remedy this immediately or to step down.
Sir, for more than one year I faced criminal charges for the “crime” of
carrying leaflets, and exposing the venal exploitation of people with
disabilities funded by RSA and ILA including segregated and exploitative
employment by CILs, CROs, and others who violate the laws of our land. I, sir
was not only treated as a second class citizen but as a slave without civil or
constitional rights.
This is not what Heaumann, Roberts, ior others amongst us fought for.
Time for accountability and response.
