Re: Throwing my hat in the ring to be a board member

Luke Zelley, TDN
Dear Sirs,
I’m sorry to hear of the recent demise of one of your board members, Mr.
Fernandez.
But, there is a silver lining I suppose to every tragedy for it appears there
is an opening on the board.
I, a person with substantial disabilities (blindness) am openly “throwing my
hat in the ring” to be on the board of TDN.
As you know CILs are supposed to be cross disability and run by citizens with a
broad cross section of disabilities. It would appear you are in dire need of my
expertise on issues facing people who are blind in this county as well as
others with other disabilities. My, in-depth knowledge of our seminal civil
rights laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and IDEA are well known by the broad community of
people with disabilities and both of you.
Also, as you know I deeply understand independent living philosophy including
the mandate for consumer control over our CILs.
As you both are quite well aware of my background I will go no further than
this.
I await your response and a response from your board about this proffer.
(Oh, if any please send it to me by simple e-mail.)
Sincerely,
Paul Joseph Harcz, Jr.
