Yes well, you may watch that stuff, but you know that you are watching
diversions from reality. The folks who put on those shows, know that they are
delivering the opiates to the people so that the people will be so drugged and
brainwashed, that they'll never rise up and revolt. Amy Goodman periodically
reminds us that the weather people provide information about the weather
without ever mentioning climate change. The Democratic Party is producing one
presidential candidate after another so that people will think we're actually
living in a democracy. It's like that mass suicide in Jonestown. People want to
cling to their ignorance and their dillusions which is why, when I mentioned to
Debbie that it seemed silly to talk about buying beach property at this point
in time, she said that it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter because the point
is to pretend that everything is fine, that those beaches will remain intact.
Actually, it's better than fine. I do believe that it was Mike Pompeio who was
talking about how we should take advantage of the ice melting at the poles so
we can get more oil and gold and diamonds.

Shopping for our dream house on TV is far less threatening than listening to
Chris Hedges or Amy Goodman, and actually discussing the topics that are
current. I do not pretend to understand it, but I happen to do some of both.
I even "watch" the cooking challenges and the Property Brothers, and Love it or
List it. And if I have time, which I seldom do, I hunker down with a root beer
and a bag of Waverly Potato Chips and watch the Mariners baseball, or the
Seattle Sea Hawks. In my mind I make up reasons as to why I need to do both.
What I don't understand is the shutting out of the critical issues of the day.
It's like being on a raft, playing party games while we are rushing toward the
rapids. The only thing I can think of is that we've been so thoroughly brain
washed that we are unable to tell real reality from pseudo reality. Maybe if
we change channels it will all go away...now where did I put that remote?

she was very annoyed with me. She just wanted to talk about the lovely
fantasies that the program was offering to the viewers and about how
she and her husband disagreed about where their fantasy house should
be located. Now, usually, when we talk about the corporate media,
we're thinking about news reporting. But this is something else. It's
what is sold to people through reality TV and films and advertising.
It's absolute denial of a reality that they are experiencing and that
is increasing in severity. My daughter would not consider herself to
be a climate denier. But she is, in her lifestyle, and in her belief
about how her life will not be impacted by human caused climate
change. No one in their fifties, wants to hear me say, nor do they
believe, that May in the New York metropolitan area was a very different
month fifty years ago than it is now.

Please join us in asking Jessica K. Liu, the US Attorney for theDistrict of Columbia, to do the right thing: Dismiss the case (“no
paper” the case) and release him immediately.
The right-wing, pro-Guaidó crowd have illegally and dangerously put
the building under siege, keeping us from getting inside and
preventing us from bringing food or medicines to our team already
inside. Unfortunately, the Secret Service is working with them, as
evidenced by Tighe Barry’s false arrest.
Our Embassy Protection Collective has been peacefully and legally
living in the embassy since April 15 at the invitation of the
Venezuelan government.
Our goal is to keep it from being illegally turned over Guaidó forces.
We are waiting for some arrangement between the US and Venezuela
governments to put both countries’ embassies—the Venezuelan Embassy
in DC and the US Embassy in Caracas--under the protectorate of third
countries, as in the case of Iran where that embassy is now an
“Interest Section” under the protection of Pakistan. This would be a
peaceful, conciliatory solution to the present standoff.
In the meantime, we need to get our colleague Tighe Barry out of jail.
