I've been reading the book, "Wasn't That A Time", and this part is all about
the time just before the Weavers formed their group. Earl Robinson, who
wrote those lyrics about which you were feeling so cynical, was a member of
People's Songs which was composed of Communists and former Communists and
"fellow travelers". To me, it's all very fascinating, the people I saw at
concerts, and read about, and their histories. But those lyrics, that
America, was not written by a Capitalist or even a commercially oriented
song writer.
