Rosie the Riveter! My oh my, that brings back memories of my mother
setting up her tool kit, donning her work pants(in a day when no
proper woman wore pants)and heading off to work for Boeing, back in
the height of WW II.
But I also think of my ex wife's step dad who was a riveter for
Boeing, working in cramped quarters where it called for little men to
squeeze in. Bernie was usually hung over. Boeing sent him through
Rehab at least three times that I knew of. Whenever I boarded a
Boeing plane, I thought of Bernie, hung over and squeezing into a
tight spot with his rivet gun in hand. And I wondered, how many other
alcoholics were crawling into planes on the production lines, blurry
eyed and hung over.
My neighbor, a recently retired Boeing engineer, was sent all over the
country whenever a Boeing plane malfunctioned. Like the plane in
Georgia that had the nose drop off.
The other thing I think about when I used to wind my way across the
skies, was the size of these new planes. It's bad enough to lose 90
or 100 passengers, but when a plane heads into the wild blue yonder
with 4 or 500 passengers on board, there has to be an absolute
assurance that the plane will always have a perfect flight.
And last of all, I think of all the people in critical positions who
are flawed humans, with pressing financial needs, or girlfriends with
expensive tastes.
All it takes is a wink and a nod and a passing of a bit of dough, and
a few dollars are saved.
Frankly, I am amazed at how few plane crashes we do have each year.

crashes of that aircraft. Both have been linked to the flight crew's lack of
knowledge of how the anti-stalling software works. Flight crews were never
adequately trained on how to use it. That got lost in the public's drive-by
media. It was just easier to put the blame on the aircraft design than
handicap an industry with adequate training. Like Carl said the blame is on
rosie the riveter and her family and not the profit takers in the airline
industry that saved a few bucks by making the training process nothing more
than a 20 minute video on an ipad; seriously that is what it was.

Absolutely production of the 737Max must be discontinued. And all who were
responsible in continuing to produce this flawed piece of flying death
should be fired from their jobs and charged with contributing to the deaths
of those murdered in the two crashes, and billed for the loss of income that
will result from their combined greed.
My point is that it is seldom the perpetrators of these high white collar
crimes who suffer. It's the Working Class who pays the bills.
And as payment? They are sneered at and called stupid...and perhaps in that
regard we are.

plane and that there have been crashes. Ralph Nader's great niece died
in one of those crashes. I've heard about that plane on Loud and Clear
and in several other places like Democracy Now, this morning. They need to
redo the design.

Traditionally, Boeing passes out Pink Slips a week or two prior to
Christmas. But the rumored news that Boeing is planning to shut down
the production line for the 737 Max could be devastating news for
employees at the Renton, Washington plant.
Language such as, "temporary closure" and "possible layoffs", do very
little to ease the stress felt by the employees. In fact, it does
little to ease the concerns of all levels of business, public and private
alike.
The usual Boeing tradition of issuing Pink Slips just before the
year's end, is a special way of sharing "Glad Tidings and Good Will to
All", by the folks made wildly wealthy through the labor of the Working
Class.
