Although this subject heading is getting a bit long in the tooth, I
just can't leave it alone. Maybe it's because I also am long in the
dentures. Actually it's Frank's doing. Frankly speaking, no pun
intended, I like off the wall posts. Anything to stimulate the old
noggin.
Speaking of that, Frank wrote, "...those protestors
think they are so special that they can get their rocks off making
themselves happy with their little protest votes while believing that it is
up to the rest of society to keep their precious little protest votes just
that, protest votes."
I just love being glooped into some all inclusive pile, labeled
according to the needs of others, and then treated to all the ridicule
the label calls for.
Like back during the Truman years of Red Baiting. Label someone as a
Pinko, and you could heap all sorts of assumptions on their head.
Commie, Traitor, UnAmerican, Godless, the list is endless. Many good
people were hurt, and some died broken from the burden of false
accusations.
But back to the here and now. Around the time of our nation's best
Republican President, Bill Clinton,...well, maybe the best since
Eisenhower...I decided to not ever again vote for the "lesser of two
evils". And so I voted for the likes of Ralph Nader. Of course I
would have shed many tears over this highly principled man if he
actually were to be elected. But then along came Hillary and Barak.
Even knowing that the winner would walk back many of their grand
sweeping promises of a new day for the working class, even so I cast
my vote for Obama. That was 2008. In 2012 I voted for Jill Stein.
But not, as has been suggested by Frank, not as a protest vote. I
voted for Jill Stein because she represented values I could live with.
Only someone just here from Jupiter would believe Stein had any sort
of chance. But I never saw the value of simply voting for the winner.
From 2012 forward, people wanting my vote will have to earn it. My
vote is sacred. I refuse to hand it off to some war hawk, even if she
would be the first woman president, something I have always looked
forward to. But Clinton is bought and paid for by the Empire. Trump
is part of the Empire's elite, even if the Empire would rather hide
him back under the rock he crawled out from.
I supported Bernie Sanders, too. Even knowing that he was owned by
the Empire, and would not mess with their efforts for world
domination.
While my reasons can be challenged, and my judgement might be flawed,
I come to my own conclusions with some effort and some study. Don't
make the mistake of labeling me as someone who casts "little protest
votes". Labels such as that are labels for the lazy of mind. Not
worthy of anyone on this list.

continuation of our subservience to the financial industry and big
corporations, continued erosion of our civil liberties, greater economic
inequality which will begin to be felt by people who consider themselves

of institutionalized racism with police murders of people of color going
unchecked, continued deportation of poor immigrants of color regardless of
their situation, increasing medical costs for people who have medical
insurance, continued disregard of how our handling of fossil fuels is
fueling the catastrophe of global warming, and all of it camouflaged by
the language of social justice, freedom, and equality. I've posted at
least 3 articles which indicate why some people voted for Brexit and what

water which is slowly heating on the stove, moving toward the boiling
point. So let's not judge people too harshly for the choices they make.

CBS this morning ran a piece about the British vote and made a big point
of how many Brits are now saying that they regret their vote and that they
only voted for it as a protest vote thinking that it could never pass.
This is the reality of these "protest votes". It may make the person feel
good but wait until the morning after. This greatly foreshadows what will
happen here in the US in November as all of these portest votes will only
put the GOP in the White House and come the morning after said protestors
will be complaining of got elected.
