The fact of the matter is, Bob, that we, the working class Americans,
are disenfranchised. We have no government watching our backs. We
are the cannon fodder for the Empire's Eternal War. We are the Stoop
and Fetch Folk for the Elite.
And, most important, we are Super Suckers. We allow ourselves to be
caught up in this "Rags to Riches" make believe game handed us by the
Ruling Class. We believe that if we can just register All Americans,
we can win an election and right all the wrongs. We are the suckers
who buy the lottery tickets or crowd into the casinos in hopes that we
can beat the million to one odds and win a fortune.
Bob, as long as this is the mind set, and as long as some of us keep
hanging onto the hope that we can "correct" the ways of the rich, we
will continue to be stepped on and treated more and more like those
Black and Brown Slaves serving time in the Empire's Private Prisons.
Even as it happens to the least of those incarcerated Souls, so it
will one day happen to All honest working class men and women.

I'm afraid you're right here. You know, Clinton was right on target when she
labeled some of Trumps supporters as deplorables. I know it is politically
unwise for a candidate to speak ill of an opponent's supporters, but our
so-called society is so screwed up that perception and style seem to be more
important than truth and justice.
This whole deplorables issue reminds me of the time in 2008 when Obama
rightly said that when some Americans get scared or frustrated, they cling
to their guns and religion. Obama really took it on the chin for that one,
but he was also right on target.
IMHO, a society that treats the poor as ours does is a society unworthy of
existence.
Well, perhaps that's a bit too strong, but the plight of the poor in America
should cause those in power to lose sleep and I don't think most of them
give a damn!

WE often talk here about whether or not our capitalist system is worth
saving or if we should dispense with it. If we do decide to stay with
capitalism, we should certainly offer a basic guaranteed income for all
citizens. This ought to be an inalienable right like life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness. We should also include the right to healthcare and
housing.
