Yes, it has indeed been a long time. A lot of water under the bridge, as they
say.
I wasn't the least bit surprised by Trump's pardoning of Arpaio. Arpaio, after
all, is the type of law enforcement person that Trump most admires. He has no
respect for the rule of law, in fact he sees himself as the law, period. This
was yet another finger in the eye to what Trump considers the PC society. Of
course, it also sends a powerful message to all other like-minded law
enforcement officials out there. Do what you want to do. We've got your back.
If Congress had an ounce of integrity, they'd do whatever they need to do to
stop this crazy train once and for all. But, of course, they won't do anything
except maybe say a few words of muted concern. It's party and power over
country, all the way, and meanwhile the country gets torn apart. Very
depressing.
