I don't suppose that, "Happy Anniversary" is the right thing to say.
But maybe we can celebrate the fact that after 28 hears you can still
remember it.
For me, it was March 3, 1965, when the lights went out. Now it's
interesting that I can't remember the name of the client we saw last
Tuesday, but I have such a clear memory of an event some 51 years ago.
But then, I also remember holding my mother's hand and stomping on the
crunchy leaves as we walked to John Hay Grade School for my first day
in Kindergarten.
And at only 4 years of age, I have strong memories of my first eye
surgery. I was so shy that I did not call for the bed pan, and I
pooped my bed. Boy do I remember that nurse screaming at me. "They
have a place for boys like you, upstairs", she shouted. I wanted to
go home.
But I also recall standing on a landing at the top of a short flight
of stairs, looking down at a Nanny Goat. I was only two years old at
the time. I think that's my earliest memory. That would have been in
the Spring of 1937.
Maybe Richard can top that.
