There are two distinct positions about the significance of what Bernie has
done, on the left. I've heard them both clearly declared this morning on the
two podcasts to which I listened.
1. Bernie's campaign is meaningful and has historical significance. It has
already had tremendous influence on the political conversation and has moved
the Democratic party to the left. His continued work in the Senate will help
millions of people deal with this pandemic. Furthermore, since he cannot win
enough delegates to win the nomination, it is vital that his supporters help
defeat Trump.
2. Bernie should not have dropped out of the campaign at this point. He should
have continued because Biden is incapable of winning the election or of
functioning as President, if he does. Bernie is again allowing himself to be
used to perpetuate a failed system. This shows that we need a revolutionary
movement which does not depend on individuals for success.

I disagree. In my opinion, Bernie Sanders believed in his position, and fought
the good fight. As a politician, Bernie does the political thing and says he
will support Joe Biden over Donald Trump.
If Bernie means that he will continue bringing pressure on Biden, attempting to
bring him under the influence of the Progressive Wing, as opposed to his
"gentlemanly" support of the Corporate values, then there might be some slight
value to voting for Joe Biden, if for no other reason than to stop the mad rush
toward the White, Male, Right that Donald Trump represents.
In the months prior to the election, which is already looking to be under the
control of the Ultra Conservatives, I'll probably change my mind a thousand
times. But in the end, the fight is already won by the American Corporate
Empire. It has two candidates which it can control, and whose continued
defense of the Empire will be assured.
Of course, as in any war, there is a loser. About 300 million
Americans...because ultimately the big loser will be an Empire that has sucked
the marrow out of its own bones, and comes crashing down, bringing an end to
what few comforts our working class enjoyed.

It's already been sold to the private sector. It will be interesting
to see how the young people who have been supporting Sanders will
react. Will they dutifully follow the lead of the people who have been
working in his campaign and who now say that they should stay in the
Democratic Party and continue to try to change it or will they decide
to join a different party or form a new one? Will all the people
who've been supporting him and contributing money feel misled? Just
last night, Our Revolution sent out a survey asking people what he
should do and Richard Esco wrote an article somewhere else, saying
that Sanders had changed the campaign with his new ideas and it didn't
matter whether or not he ran. Will all those white racist working
class people in the swing states who voted for Trump last time, switch to
Biden this time?

My Own Personal Opinion...although it could be for sale...
For some Americans today's announcement by Bernie Sanders does not
represent a Unified Democratic Party. The message, loud and clear, is
a victory for the American Ruling Class. We voters will have two non
choices at this years presidential election, a Reality TV
Star/Corporate Billionaire Wanna be, versus Pal Joey, the absent
minded, everybody's buddy...especially his billionaire backers.
Regardless of how the election goes, the decline of the American
Corporate Empire(ACE)is guarantied. Once the final touches are
applied to our democratic Republic form of government, the Federal
Government can easily be sold to the Private Corporate Sector. And
finally, just like the mighty Roman Empire, the powerful ruling class
will fall upon itself in an effort to horde the final crumbs of our
once great nation. In the distant future, historians will label these
coming years as, "The Second Dark Ages"...if there is a future for the Human
Species.
