Organizations should not be allowed to use religion to discriminate when
hiring-especially if they're using our tax dollars. But that's what's
happening right now.
Some federal grantees have used a 2007 Justice Department memo to argue that
they should not be barred from discriminating against LGBT workers. And some
have sought to extend its use beyond hiring-the U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops referred to the memo when refusing to provide emergency
contraception to unaccompanied immigrant children who'd been raped.
