Hi Jim,

OK, but let us wait for things to settle down just a bit before we take on a large project. We still need to work on the mechanics of operating this list and the tournaments.

Hi Richard,
If you would like to write me privately, I can help you figure that out. I
forget the details, but I know that I can figure it out. They have some file
areas and other stuff. If that's not something we want to use, I know that
for something like $30 a year plus $10 for a domain name, we can easily put Drupal over at ultrahost.us and put up all kinds of content. It'd be fun to
do.

I have all problems on individual text files.

Eventually, this stuff should probably go on a web page.

Freelisst provides something, but I do not know the details. Since Jim used

to run the blind-programming, jaws-scripting and blind-windows lists, he may

be able to give us an idea of what freelists can do.

Hi Carol,

Wonderful!

the first step would be to start "capturing" useful material, and to put a

system in place so that you can easily and quickly save useful posts to a
particular folder

Do you have all of the problems submitted by Richard, along with their
answers? If not I can go through my "stuff" and help find them, or Richard

might have them easily available.

Do you have all of the "history" articles I have posted? If not I will
forward what you do not have. I made a point to number each - I think
there have been 13 so far.

And if other educational/entertaining material has been submitted, other
can help in the same way.

Next we'll need some categories to help organize the information. Here
some rough ideas:

1. Annotated games
2. Glossary and definitions
3. Chess rules
4. Chess history
5. Chess Openings
6. The Middle Game in Chess
7. Englames
8. Chess humor
9. FAQ
10. Chess Tactics
11. Chess strategy
12. Misc.

Maybe I missed something or wiser heads can improve on this.

these categories could either represent a sub-folder or an identifier that

is part of the file name so that the material can be found quickly. (I
suggest a sub-folder.)

Then, for each item you have, you give it a meaningful name such as "Chess

and Philataly 5/5/2010 - rod Macdonald" and place it in this correct
folder - in this case chess history. And do this with each item you have
and subsequently receive.

Then, periodically, list out the contents of each folder to a file (I can
help you do that) to creat a file with the Library's contents. A little
word processing adjustment and you cna then post that file to the list as
appropriate.

If anyone wants a copy of any of the files, they can make a request,
specifying which sub-folder and which file they want., and you can mail it

out as an attachment.

there are several folks on this list with more experience in technical
writing and data organization that I have, and I hope they will jump in
with improvements and suggestions. But this is a basic idea that I hope
won't be too time-consuming and iwll make valuable information available
to our members.

Rod
