Sure they did, and had to invent the computer too. But just like somebody
had to invent and then push a vacuum cleaner, they now have robots that
can do it all by themselves.
A lot of hard human work goes into whatever a computer can do. There are a
few programmers on this list, and I bed several could program a computer
to play chess given the DIRT - determination, information, resources and
time.
