Hi Valerie, If I were dealing with your book, I'd put three * (asterisks) before the name of the person who is speaking in the inset. And again when the main text picked up after the inset. Yes, it's a lot of asterisking to type and later read, but I don't know another way to achieve the separation that you're needing to keep. Just my thoughts, for what they're worth, which pre-coffee as I am is probably very very little. When there are multiples in a row and no author text, I figure I do not need additional separation (the triple asterisks), but often it is in between a comment or assessment or a quote that is signed after the quote.
