Hi Mayrie!

I should have realized that the blank lines would be stripped.

Hi Lynn,

Those blank lines will be stripped when they get converted. Hence the
asterisks that Valerie was worried about being too numerous. Isn't that
what started the discussion, or am I misunderstanding?

I see.

If their name is in all caps and bolded, why not separate it with a blank
line above and below?

You wouldn't be altering the text, except by adding the blank lines. *smile*
Just a thought, anyway.

Except their actual name is bolded in the text and all caps for the insets,
and I would be altering the text if I instead put it in brackets, no?

When there are multiples in a row and no author text, I figure I do not need
additional separation (the triple asterisks), but often it is in between a
comment or assessment or a quote that is signed after the quote.

UGH!
