Hi, Bud. I don't know if this would make any difference for you, but a lot of the Janette Oke books I've been doing have designs as part of the header and as a divider between sections. They scan as a bunch of junk and have to be removed. I don't believe there's anything that could be done in that case, although I could be wrong. If the book you're doing has some kind of design like this, that could be your problem. Take care. When scanning a book there often are extra letters at the bottom and sometimes the top of the page. I am using an Epson 3170 scanner and version 9 of k1000. I have tried different programs, regular scan, fast scan, and whatever the third one is, perfect scan or something like that, and it doesn't seem to make much difference. It really slows down scanning a book when I have to stop and delete all those extra characters. Any other ideas? Thanks. Bud Schwab W 6 Z Y P Malibu, California
