Well, if people don't want to validate, they can
always scan and just make sure all the page numbers
are present and do a word search to at least eliminate
most of the mis-spellings and the garbage. I feel a
lot better about not scanning and just validating
knowing that there are so many around who like to
scan. I read the books as I go along, and so it's no
problem for me to put in page breaks -- and also
sometimes I find missing pages which I can then scan
in, since I use the books themselves. When I was
scanning, I pre-validated and found some pages I'd
missed, as well as some I'd done twice. I guess I lost
my concentration, and I don't get to hear what I'm
doing.

But Marissa says not to worry about submitting txt
books. Still if you can convert your txt files to rtf
before submission, that would be preferable because
then they'd retain italics as well as page breaks.

How did you know that the books you validated were
kicked back? Were they somehow kicked back to you as
validator and not to the submitter? I haven't had
anything returned to me as validator even though I've
approved some txt files that had the page numbers
separated from the text by line spaces but Word put in
page breaks elsewhere.

If you let me know when you submit the Doig books I'll
validate them if no one else has gotten to them first.
Unless . . . I can't remember if you're one who
doesn't mind sending me a book file or one who is
uncomfortable dong that. If you don't mind, I can
pre-validate it as an rtf file and send it back to you
to submit.
