I did not know you could do all that with Kurzweil but this sounds even better 
than rtf if those darn black spaces (quite large in some areas) can be 
eliminated and/or explained though that might be more confusing than not.

  I would edit the file using Kurzweil if it were me. I might even convert it 
to kes while I worked on it so it could keep my place. You can then use the 
notes feature to mark places you need help with or have questions about, and 
you can access the notes easily but they won't actually appear in the text. 
Reading this may be a big challenge, but it's definitely something worthwhile 
for the collection.
