Oh yeah how I could I forget them, got everyone in a shouting state, including me!
----------------"If you go without playing the trumpet for one day, no one knows, two days, only you know, and more than three days without practicing, girl you better look out, because everyone will know!" Today, I find myself constantly saying those words, just to get myself going, to not give up, and it works. Since I learned to play the trumpet at the tender age of 10, I have spent so much passion and much diligence with that instrument that I will not give up on it. Sometimes my instrument puts me into awkward situations where I feel like they won't ever end, but the trumpet gives me a lot of hope with the majestic, crystal-clear sound it brings to my ears.

At a certain time in the past year there were two jiffy proofers who would check out a book and upload it within five minutes. I think a couple of times they managed to do it within two minutes. They had the checkout list reduced to less than a hundred books and almost everyone of them was a hold. That left conscientious proofers who did not have any holds for them bereft of anything to do and the books were being passed on unproofed. Finally, Carrie started noting the time that had passed between download and upload and bouncing back any book that had not been held long enough to have been proofread. That seems to have solved the problem. I suppose it is still possible to download a book and let it sit a few days before uploading it without even looking at it, but we know the names of the offenders. If one of your books are checked out by Nicholas Wilcox or Julie Barrett notify Carrie that you do not want your book proofed by one of those irresponsible jiffy proofers. Now maybe you aremeticulous and you read every word of a book you proofread and you're very careful because you might write the submitter informing what you've done andasking questions if you're stuck. I don't know how long you've been a proofreader, but if you are meticulous, I don't see why you should beoffended. I'm thinking this is not and neither should this be an adversarialrelationship between submitters and proofreaders. We want scans withreadable texts which aren't garbled. I think what we want is the same thing,i.e., excellent quality books in the Bookshare collection. I never get "hold fors", which is fine by me. It doesn't mean I'm just some careless jiffy-proofer. I understand submitters don't wantthe careless proofers, but I think there are a lot more reliable folks outthere than some people seem to think. It just smells to me like in-crowd foolishness. TracyPeople can only have five books in their queue at any given time. So, if someone didn't have room, the book might conceivably sit for longer than two weeks. Right now, that isn't a problem. The people I work with take books of mine in a timely fashion. However, once the new policy is implemented, books might be taken by unreliable proofers. If this is the case, I will be reluctant to submit as often as I currently do.Yes. You have proofread for me, and I'm very grateful for the work you do.Are you a fan of women's music? I really understand what you're saying about having a good relationship with a proofreader and how important that is. I've proofread your books--at least two or three of them, and I think we've worked well together. However, I'm not understanding comments on this thread that express a concern about the "holds" being for two weeks effecting the number of books you or others would be able to submit. The change in the "holds" just means you'd have two weeks to download the book from the time it was placed on the check out list. It doesn't mean that you couldn't renew it--I renew a book all the time. Could you please clarify how this would be a negative? Blessings.
