Dear Tracy;

I am fairly new here, volunteering since August, but I can tell you why I pair
in each direction. I am a stay at home caregiver for two people who are total
care. I love to be the proofreader in a series if it will interest Nichole, my
16 year old daughter with CP, who is a member so we can chat about the books
she might read. My husband, Doug, is a quadriplegic and is also a volunteer.
I will scan children's books that he writes picture descriptions for. Then he
will proof, them after I review his descriptions and do a text setup. On other
series I scan, there are unusual names and locations, so one of the ladies who
has proofed my books, Susan L, will often follow up in the series. she has
first dibs in those situations since she is already familiar with things that
will reduce questions and smooth out the process for both of us. people often
hold for me if they need eyes on a books since I am sighted, or I will help out
if able if and be neither a submitter or proof reader.

If we know what your interests are, perhaps we can find books you might be
interested in. I know both Jamie and Shelley help let people know when they
have new titles coming up that might help newbies or people with specific
interests. I pulled one for Jamie that I am not interested in that had been
checked out by someone routinely rejecting her books without cause. It is
called The Shifter and I would gladly release it if I know when you might be
able to check it out.

Valerie
