Hi, E, and thanks for the update on that. I'm glad you were able to speak to him and voice those concerns. It definitely seemed fishy to me, so I hope it all works out and something can be done to keep something like that from happening again. Take care. -- Julie Morales Email & Windows/MSN Messenger: mercy421@xxxxxxxxxxx http://www.youravon.com/juliemorales Currently in Winchester Regional, Virginia Partly Cloudy, 53F°(12C°) Wind:Calm DUMBWAITER: One who asks if the kids would care to order dessert. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elizabeth and Burton" <thoth93@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, November 14, 2006 6:14 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: the ever present bookshare volunteer I just spoke to Gustavo about Abagail. I spoke to him about Jill's copy, about how somebody downloaded it to validate only a short time (less than a day) after Jill uploaded it to step one with"hold for E." as its note. I spoke about how the validator did finish work very quickly which is of concern to Jill and me. Both of know this book has a log of dialect and that careful checking is necessary. We were both surprised to notice the validation done so soon. I also mentioned that, one day after the copy from Jill made it into the collection, somebody else sent in a bso copy. He and I agreed I will download that bso copy from step 1. I also have the copy Jill submitted that the person validated quickly and which is now part of the collection. Unless there is something seriously at fault with Jill's copy (and she does lovely scans) I have Gustavo's permission to reject the bso copy. He is aware that a peculiar situation of some sort may exist. I have also suggested that each anonymous "bookshare volunteer" be given some kind of username so he or she can be identified. They are not one being with many arms. Gustavo knows my concern is that hiding behind the "bookshare volunteer" screen messiness of some sort can occur more often than it can if each person has a username. Specifically, I am concerned about people who download books from step 1, read them and then send them back to step 1 without validating. Lots of the books which meet this fate seem to have "a bookshare volunteer" repeated throughout their languishing history. tacky!! E.
