Hi Larry,
It was a while back, I think maybe even a couple of years, since the way
we're supposed to format ellipses got standardized, and the way we're
supposed to do it since then is different than you've described. Here's
what the volunteer manual says (from
https://www.bookshare.org/cms/get-involved/volunteer/my-volunteer-home/scanning-and-proofreading/tips-scanning-proofing/tips):
Leave no spaces between the ellipsis and the prior word, and insert a
single space between it and the next word. Example: "The ellipsis rule
can be confusing... but these instructions may help!" If used at the end
of a sentence, add the period directly after the three dots of the
ellipses. Example: "She paused only a moment.... He should have known to
wait."
I hope that helps! smile.

Our books are coming back because it now seems the ellipses is not to be preceeded by a space. Am I senile or did they not say some time back that the ellipses is to be preceeded and followed by a space except when it is attached to punctuation.
