Hi Beverly. I do have a cadre of proofers that I have worked with in the past
and whom I know do good work. I didn’t have anyone in mind for this series and
that’s why I put the question out on the list as a whole. I haven’t scanned
the series yet so if anyone wants to take any or all of it, just post here.

I have a question for Larry and a few others who seem to work the same way.
As a relatively new proofreader, I am accustomed to looking over the list of
books “ready to be proofread” and making a selection from there. Yet some of
you more experienced scanners seem to line up a specific proofreader even
before you scan (as Larry is doing with the Schlesinger books). Is there a
reason for this?
It seems to me there are so many more proofreaders than scanners that no book
is likely to languish on the list for long, unless it presents particular
difficulties, such as foreign language issues, or lack of availability at
public libraries. But maybe there’s something about the process I am not
understanding.
