Wow, this sounds great! I have the StandScan Pro, but it doesn't really
work well for books. Thanks for the info, Larry!

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] the Vopydo scanning stand for apple I-Devices

Hello. I think this could have some interest in bookshare circles so am
posting here. The KNFB reader for I devices has just released version 2
which includes a mode for automaticly shooting documents using a stand for
holding the phone in place. The developer of this stand has developed his
units to support all devices which will run KNFB. This includes iphones
from 4s forward, ipads and ipad minis and ipod touch 5th and 6th generation.
His stand sells now for $12 on amazon plus $3 shipping. The feedback from
people who are using it indicate that it is easy to set up, durable and very
much worth the cost. He is now working on a book attachment which will
facilitate shooting books easily. As I understand it, his book-shooting
attachment will offer a method of holding the book down in place while you
shoot which makes this process very much better. I will paste an e-mail I
received from him below concerning his attempt to get this attachment off
the ground. His e-mail is

Larry,

The cost of the book reading attachment will be roughly $25 and the whole
set with the stand about $35.

I will start a kickstarter project for the attachment and keep it going for
about 30 days to gage if there is sufficient interest in developing a
product

like this. I am thinking that if I find 100 to 150 people interested in the
book reader by the end of 30 days I will go ahead and manufacture the first

1000. However, if I see a higher number of people interested in the first
few days of the project on kickstarter then I will prepare for manufacturing

right away and not wait till the end of the 30 days.

I hope you understand my preparations, because jumping into a costly
manufacturing process without checking if the product is going to sell would
be difficult

to explain to my wife, again ;).
