Thanks.  I knew there must be a way to do it with an e-mail, but I didn't go
to the trouble of looking the commands up since I already knew how to do it
through the web site.

Another approach that will work is to send a message to
bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
in the subject line put the phrase
set digest
    If you want to revert back to individual messages, replace the word Set
with the word Unset.
