I was told to not put captions or footnotes at the end of sentences. Another words, leave the sentences broken. The only change we are explicitly told we can make is putting a split word together when split between changes. All other changes are not allowed smile. It came out a lot a couple of years ago when I was validating A History of Private Life. So in this case you are being asked by bookshare staff to actually do less work and leave things as they are -- no subperscripts just numbers put right next to the period with no space between -- no moving of sentences to put a caption in a more readable place. I dislike that last part but that is what Jake and Pratik said to do about a year ago. Why nobody thought of putting such guidance in the manual I do not know.

Elizabeth, In the print books the footnotes *are* superscript. What I was doing when validating and finding that they were not was making them such. Then the question arose here are one point and at least some members said not to make them superscript but to put the numbers next to the periods without parentheses (I was going to do that) because that way they would be easier to read. However bookshare wants them I'm happy to do them, but changing the way they are in the print book is no different to my mind than deleting hyphens at the end of sentences and closing up the word. smile Or putting photos and illustrations and their captions in places that will not interrupt a sentence or paragraph. smile Cindy ____________________________________________________________________________________ Check out the hottest 2008 models today at Yahoo!
