Hi, it'd be good if you and/or Larry and/or Susan and whoever else might want to join in on the effort could work out teams and work on them. If my proofing were trustworthy, I'd like to help proof, but I don't want to take away from Valerie's proofing that she's comfortable with. Just some thoughts to keep you great volunteers here with us in the volunteer community. Thanks Valerie for your note. Have a blessed day. ----- Original Message ----- From: Valerie Maples To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 2010 4:59 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: suggestions for volunteers about books to do I have many of the old Hardy boys and Nancy Drew books as well as other classic lines including the Bobbsey Twins and more. I think this is where being a series captain or volunteering for a group will be a very good use of resources and talents. Susan asked me how many books are in my house and I had to honestly say that there are probably approaching 1000 in my living room alone waiting to be scanned and added. I guess I should go to scanning full-time instead of proofreading, but my heart really is more in proofreading. Once I get done with the Spanish grammar book I am working on I will return to more scanning of these eclectic and older titles and series. Or, if someone has a good track record of meticulous scanning I can send them a box of books and myself or one of my trusted proofreaders could assist in getting some of these books in the collection. The big cost is postage as I would need my books back to donate to our local library. Whitney, Victoria Holt, Phillippa Carr, Daphne du Maurier, and the older nancy drew and Hardy Boys and other books from earlier like Grace Livingston Hill and Isabella Mcdonald Allen and June Masters BAcher and others will need to be scanned as they might not be likely to be submitted by the publishers. Some of these may be already in the collection and need cleaning up and submitted as bso's? I'm sure there are other authors like this that we'd all like that would keep you all busy and us all proofing and scanning. I've submitted these author preferences to the wish list, but I thought I'd submit them here to give people ideas of what would be additions that may not be duplicated. Also, Linda Nichols is another good author who could be more represented in the bookshare collection. Thanks again and have a blessed day.
